Get Exercise/Have Fun!

Mr. Lund has been visiting Seattle for a few days.  On Saturday, he took a bike ride along the Burke-Gilman Trail on his trustee bike.  He knew there's a lot to see on this trail, but today there were surprises. http://www.kingcounty.gov/recreation/parks/trails/regionaltrailssystem/burkegilman.aspx

He saw bridges.

Boats
And even HOUSE-BOATS!
He saw a mural with giraffes and an octopus on a bike!

He saw a statue dedicated to peace.
And a stadium dedicated to violence (Husky football:)

He wound up at a parade/festival for the Solstice (the longest day of the year...when the sun "sol" is in its highest place).  The marching band was playing "Gangnam Style" when I took the picture.

A Week of Fun!

The final week of the year was full of fun activities.  First, Mr. Lund's class became the tug of war champions for 3rd grade!

Then, we went to the pool.

Then we had field day, bounce houses, and got sprayed by the Sunnyside Firemen.

And finally, we saw the graduating 5th graders off before having a short dance party to end the year.

Have a great summer!  See you when you're 4th graders.  I plan to update this blog during this summer, so keep an eye out for new things!

Biography Projects

Since starting the Martin Luther King, Jr. biography, the class has really gotten excited about reading biographies.  We've since read about Jackie Robinson and Harriet Tubman.  Also, kids had a choice of 6 people to research and write a biography about.  Check out the videos about these people (on the right side of the screen).

Pumas Got Talent

Today was the first annual "Pumas Got Talent" talent show and it was a hit!  Several different 3rd-5th Grade acts showed off their skills including: dance, singing, cello, and even a pogo stick!
Our very own Simon Copenhaver played his cello and the crowd loved it!  All of Mr. Lund's class chanted his name and had a great time throughout the entire show.  "I'm gonna do this next year!" said Feliciana Herrera-Barajas.
